2019 Greetings:  Message from Chapter Chair

Happy New Year to everyone, hope you had an excellent and relaxing holiday season.  The newly elected Board met in both late December and early January to discuss the state of the chapter; which resulted in what may be some significant changes to the Chapter in 2019.  To be transparent, the Chapter has suffered a significantly low participation rate in Chapter events over the past few years, and has operated in the red (expenses exceeding revenues).  As such we are making changes that we feel can increase participation, while also changing our business model from chapter/event fees to a purely sponsorship model.  In summary, some of the changes we are proposing include:

  • Elimination of local chapter dues, as well as event fees. This implies that we become financially self sufficient through sponsorships.  No small task…  Outlined below is a request for sponsorships.
  • Education Focus: We will host four (min) education based (continuing professional education credit) sessions this year, each followed by or including a social mixer.  We will continue with the Private Security Appreciation Night, and Holiday Bonanza as we have over prior years, and are evaluating LEAN.  Our full 2019 calendar is published below.
  • We will be overhauling the website (https://phillyasis.com), primarily to simplify the content down to just what is required to support the Chapter Mission.

That said, we’re not saying with any certainty that these changes will improve the chapter posture, and if you don’t agree, or have ideas or constructive input, we strongly encourage you to voice them to Board Members.  We humbly recognize that we do not have all of the answers, and rely heavily on membership input.
